This garden is meant to be a welcoming place for every woman who finds her way here — including those who navigate the web with a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, captions, or simply with eyes that need larger, gentler type.

I want to be honest with you rather than make sweeping claims. Below is what has been done, what is still being improved, and how to reach me if something stands in your way.

What I’m Working Toward

This website aims to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the standard most widely used to make websites usable by people with a broad range of abilities. This is an ongoing effort rather than a finished destination.

What Has Been Done

• Larger, readable type. Body text throughout the site is set at 18 to 20 pixels with generous line spacing, chosen deliberately with our community’s eyesight in mind.
• Real text, not pictures of text. Headings and paragraphs are actual text, so they can be read aloud by screen readers, enlarged, or re-colored by your browser.
• Descriptive image descriptions. Photographs carry alternative text describing what they show, and decorative flourishes are marked so screen readers skip past them rather than reading meaningless symbols.
• Clear heading structure. Pages use a logical heading order, which lets screen reader users move through a page by section rather than reading every word.
• Color contrast. Body text and headings have been checked against the WCAG AA contrast standard, and colors that fell short have been deepened.
• Text you can enlarge. The site reflows when you zoom in your browser, so enlarging the page does not cut off content.

What I’m Still Improving

Being honest about the gaps matters more to me than appearing finished.

• Captions and transcripts. Recordings from our Women of Wisdom Gatherings and audio practices do not yet have captions or written transcripts. This is my highest priority.
• Keyboard navigation. I am reviewing every link, button, and form to confirm each can be reached and clearly seen when navigating by keyboard alone.
• Some smaller accent text. A few small labels and captions are still being adjusted to meet contrast standards at their size.
• Third-party tools. Portions of the site rely on outside services, including our community platform, registration forms, and payment processing. I have less direct control over those, though I raise accessibility concerns with them when I find them.
